Zero sugar: why we left it out
Classic sports drinks are built on sugar. We use none, here is the thinking, including the one real argument for sugar and why it does not win for a daily drink.

Most sports drinks lead with sugar, 20 to 40 grams in a single serve, sometimes more. It is the first ingredient and the loudest. SOLT uses none. Here is the thinking.
The one honest argument for sugar.
In clinical rehydration salts, a little glucose helps your gut pull sodium across, sodium and glucose are absorbed together. It is real science. But it is built for treating illness, and the effect is small for a dilute drink you sip slowly across a hot day rather than down in one go.
Why it does not win for a daily drink.
Something you might drink every day in the heat is exactly where a sugar load is the last thing you want. A clean, zero-sugar drink fits daily life, fasting mornings and low-carb routines, and earns its taste from natural sweetening, not from sugar.
So what about taste?
